"We need to stop picturing our relationship with nature as a war," said Siders, who is a core faculty member of UD's Disaster Research Center and an assistant professor of public policy and administration and of geography.
"We're not winning or losing; we're adjusting to changes in nature. Sea levels rise, storms surge into flood plains, so we need to move back."
Humans, in their present state of immaturity as a species, need to learn that fighting anything encourages and often exacerbates what is fought.
If we want more problems in the future due to changes in the climate (for whatever reasons) then enact new taxes. The carbon tax would give these human morons money to wage their useless and often disastrous wars.
To those that say, "We have to do something. We have to start somewhere."
This is incorrect. We need to do that which is intelligent with clarity and focus.
And we need to step down from our self erected pedestals and do far less. Saving the planet will require humans to stop doing things - not develop new compensatory mechanisms.
The human governments in place are too corrupt to even approach the issues facing humans and other life forms on this planet.
